Bid Help, Edmonton

Public work for a builder who's ready to bid.

WCB clearance, insurance certificate, then the paperwork nobody enjoys. I do the paperwork side so a small contractor can bid government and institutional work without hiring an estimator.

How it works

Three steps. The first one is free.

  1. Free checklist on one job. I read the whole package and send a one-page checklist: deadline, every form, every must-have, what gets a bid thrown out. No charge, by Monday morning.
  2. If you want it written, a flat fee, told before I start. You pay half to start, the rest when you've read the draft. Same fee whether you win or not. If it's rejected for something I missed, you get your money back.
  3. Or a weekly list of work that fits you. Every Monday, new Edmonton projects and spaces that fit a commercial and multi-family builder, with who to call. One builder only.

Nobody can promise a win or a spot on a list. What's promised is a complete bid with nothing missing, on time.

Most Edmonton housing and school rosters ask for COR, SECOR or a Temporary Letter of Certification. Once that's in hand, the five-year rosters open up. That's next year's conversation, and the list keeps you busy until then.

The Monday list, Edmonton version

Five new places a week that need a builder.

$199 a month, paid in advance, one builder in Edmonton only. If the first list has nothing worth calling, you get it back.

What I need from you

Four things, and we can start Monday.

Pick the job you want the free checklist on today. It's in your inbox Monday morning.

If public work isn't the fit yet

Then the list is the fit, and the bids come later.

No COR yet, or the open jobs don't match what you build? Nothing wrong with that. Most small builders are there. Here's the order that works:

  1. The Monday list, starting next week. Five Edmonton projects and spaces a week that need a builder, with who to call. Private work: tenant fit-outs, multi-family owners, property managers, developers. $199 a month, paid in advance, one builder in Edmonton.
  2. SECOR or a Temporary Letter while you work. SECOR is the small-shop COR for 10 or fewer people. ACSA issues a Temporary Letter of Certification so you can bid public work while the program gets built. I'll send you the steps.
  3. Then the rosters. Housing providers, school boards and the Province run multi-year general contractor lists. With the certificate in hand, I write the roster application and you're on the list for the next five years of small jobs.

Start with whichever of the two you want today: the free checklist on one job, or the first Monday list. Both begin Monday morning.
